WALLINGFORD — The Sheehan field hockey team tuned up for Thursday night’s rivalry game with Lyman Hall by blanking North Haven 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Choate.
Olivia Fritz staked the Titans to a 1-0 lead in the first quarter off an assist from Brooke Patrissi.
Later, in the third quarter, Patrissi punched home an insurance goal.
Through it all, goalie Rilee Reutenauer and the Sheehan defense kept North Haven off the board. Reutenauer collected seven saves.
North Haven goalie Noyla Coyle made 12 stops.
Sheehan now heads into the Lyman Hall game at 2-1. North Haven fell to 1-3.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Windham Tech 3, Wilcox Tech 2: The opening set was decided 27-25 and the tone was set in a CTC battle in Windham that went the full five games.
The host Tigers persevered 25-27, 25-17, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-12.
Wilcox Tech’s Gladys Rodriguez put together her best defensive performance to date, gathering 42 digs. The junior also factored into the offense with five aces and three kills.
Sophomore Sadie Vernon also had a strong all-around match for the Wildcats with 11 kills, eight digs and three aces.
Setter Nilaika Galloza amassed 10 assists and three aces.
Wilcox is now 1-5. Windham evened up at 3-3.
Fairfield Warde 3, Cheshire 1: In a non-conference battle of unbeatens, the visiting Mustangs remained spotless with a 25-16, 16-25, 25-20, 25-22 decision in Cheshire.
Warde (5-0) had twin turbos at the net in Selina Tostere (20 kills, 8 blocks) and Piper McDonald (16 kills, 3 blocks). The duo also combined for seven aces.
Cheshire (4-1) got 13 kills from Emma Danaher and six kills, five aces and two blocks from Eva Catalanotto.
Setter Mary Nugent posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs. Kira Strauss and Olivia Scotti factored into the defense with eight digs apiece.
Guilford 3, Lyman Hall 0: The Grizzlies swept the Trojans 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 in a SCC crossover match in Wallingford to improve to 5-2 and keep the Trojans winless at 0-5.
LH setter Casey Mordecai handed out 15 assists. Emily Buzbee knocked down six kills.
