CHESHIRE — Avenging an earlier defeat, the Cheshire softball team knocked off previously unbeaten North Haven with a 3-1 SCC crossover victory on Monday.

The Rams scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and improve to 12-2.

Mia Juodaitis smacked a RBI single to tie the game and Bri Floyd followed with a two-run base hit that proved to be the game-winner.

Bri Pearson had another strong outing in the circle for Cheshire. The sophomore allowed just five hits and one walk while fanning eight. She also had a hit at the plate.

Jade Barnes, Ari Perlini and Grace Lurz added hits as the Rams won their fourth in a row.

Sarah Lombardi accounted for North Haven’s run with a leadoff home run in the fourth. The Indians are now 13-1.

Platt 3, Plainville 1: Caitlyn Hart fired a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the CCC South crossover win over the Blue Devils in Meriden

The junior right-hander had a no-hitter going until Makayla Caron singled in the sixth inning.

Hart walked two and hit a batter. The Plainville run was unearned.

Platt’s run production was generated by Jaylene Guzman, Alyssa Donahue and Hind Moumen. All three went 1-for-3 and collected one RBI.

Both teams now stand at 5-6.
