LETTERS:  Supreme Court needs ethics code

Ethics and the court

Editor:

As the daughter of a U.S. history teacher, I grew up with a strong respect for the Constitution and the institutions it created — the presidency, the Congress, and the Supreme Court. Supreme Court decisions impact every facet of American life. Because of this, justices must be held to the highest ethical standards. When Americans see recent revelations in the news, they wonder why the Supreme Court is not governed by a code of ethics, as are the lower courts.

It’s time for Congress to pass a Supreme Court code of ethics to bring legitimacy back to the Court.
