What about the businesses?
So what do you think about the property tax grace period for federal employees? These are not minimum wage employees and had one paycheck DELAYED. They were made whole by February 1st when the tax was due. It turned out to be a one-month paid vacation for them, not a bad deal.
My concern is for the small business people that incurred financial losses that were real and permanent. Are Meriden's decision makers giving them a grace period also? How could Coon, Scarpati, and a majority of the council get it so wrong? None of the neighboring towns were so eager to jump on the PC bandwagon. I realize that this is dysfunctional Meriden but is vapid group-think that pervasive even here? Not even a nod to the real victims of the shutdown, yet Daniels states Meriden did the right thing. Quite embarrassing. Meriden voters need to step up and do the right thing by demanding a change to the City Charter where we have 7 councilors all elected at large. Council members now are just not cutting it, spending their time on non-substantive issues and totally missing the point even on matters that really are not that difficult or on things that do not matter.
