WALLINGFORD — A Huelstede Lane home was extensively damaged by a fire early Monday morning.
The residents were able to safely get out. No injuries were reported reported.
Firefighters responded to 7 Huelstede Lane at about 6:15 a.m. and found the rear of the two-and-a-half story home engulfed in flames, according to Battalion Chief Kris Sundwall. With mutual aid from two Meriden fire companies and coverage from North Haven, crews were able to extinguish the fire in around an hour and a half.
Sundwall said the home appears to be uninhabitable. The family plans to stay with relatives nearby.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
