Local man charged with assault in domestic incidented woman in front of infant

WALLINGORD — A local man faces charges after police said he assaulted a woman early Monday morning.

Leroy Lyons, 31, of 44 S. Cherry St., was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Officers were called to the South Cherry Street address around 1:30 a.m. and found a woman with injuries to her face and neck, according to a police report. Police determined Lyons strangled the woman while their one-month-old child was nearby, the report said. He was taken into custody and his bond was set at $50,000.
