Bailey-Yamartino ticket wants another term

With a long list of accomplishments during four years of service in Middlefield’s top job, First Selectman Ed Bailey has announced that he will seek re-election. He is pleased to have Bob Yamartino join the ticket once again as a Board of Selectmen candidate.

The Bailey–Yamartino team has already proven that it is committed to reducing taxes and holding down finances – all while planning for future expenses. This respected team has a distinguished reputation as fiscally-responsible and knowledgeable.

Once again, in a genuine spirit of bipartisanship, the Middlefield Republican Town Committee has endorsed Bailey and Yamartino – both unaffiliated voters. In addition, the RTC has nominated businessman Michael Skelps for the Board of Finance, citizen advocate Kathleen Kokoszka for the Board of Assessment Appeals and has cross endorsed Anne Oszewski (D) for tax collector.

Keeping Middlefield’s fiscal health strong has been a priority for the Bailey-Yamartino team. They have focused their attention on town expenses, as well as the Region 13 budget process and, as a result, all Middlefield homeowners saw their property tax bills decrease 6 percent in July of this year while delivering greater and more efficient services to town residents.

While concerned for the continued bleak outlook of the state budget, they have made Middlefield the fiscal envy of many other small towns in the state.

“We know that the dollars paid by Middlefield taxpayers are hard earned. We want to ensure that those monies are spent wisely while still providing services to our residents,” First Selectman Bailey said. “We have pro-actively sought ways to keep spending down, to search for any financial waste and to maintain a fair budget.”
