Police say man threatened passersby, hit car with ax in Southington



SOUTHINGTON — Police are looking for a man witnesses say threatened passersby in a downtown parking lot with an ax and used it to damage a vehicle.

The incident took place in a parking lot near the bar 75 Center and several other downtown businesses at 1:06 a.m., witnesses told police. No one was injured, police said in a statement on their Facebook page.

Police released a picture of the suspect. A man who identified himself as the owner of the bar said the public parking lot is across the street from his establishment and that police did not know where the man came from prior to the incident.
