MERIDEN — A woman faces charges, including DUI, after police said she struck a parked car at a local pub and drove off.

Maria Martinez, 26, of 593 Gracey Ave., was charged Saturday with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, evading responsibility, reckless driving, and disobeying an officer’s signal.

The incident began when police responded to Maloney’s Pub, 676 W. Main St., around 1:35 a.m. for a report of a dispute in the parking lot. When officers arrived, there were multiple people standing in the lot. As people began walking away a sedan backed out of a parking spot, accelerated and struck another vehicle in the lot, according to a police report. The driver, later identified as Martinez, drove away after an officer told her to stop.

Martinez was stopped a short distance away by another officer and taken into custody, the report said. She took field sobriety tests at the station, but the results were not released.

She was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 30.
