Man charged with fourth-degree sexual assault after incident at bus stop in Meriden

MERIDEN —A local man was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault after a reported incident at a bus stop Saturday. 

Thomas Bremer, 63, of 16 Union St., was also charged with breach of peace. 

A woman waiting for a bus on State Street around 3:15 p.m. reported that Bremer first tried to speak to her and then attempted to touch her leg, according to a police report.  He then put his hand on her shoulder and groped her chest.  

The woman said she when she pulled away Bremer walked away and began speaking with other women at the bus stop, the report said. One of the women called police. 

Police found Bremer a short distance away. He was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday and bond was set at $2,500. He is due back in court on Nov. 2.
