MERIDEN — The city’s 36th annual Festival of Silver Lights at Hubbard Park, which started with a very small light display in 1988, goes live with over 350,000 lights on Wednesday, according to an announcement from the city.

The display will remain illuminated through Jan. 1.

Attendees can drive through the park or park their vehicle in designated areas and walk around to take pictures of this free holiday show.

At  Hubbard’s James J. Barry Bandshell, there will be a display of decorated trees and a lifelike fireplace.

Hubbard Park was closed to motor vehicles through Monday so that Meriden Parks and Recreation staff could continue setting up the over 200 individual display figures, including two new ones.
