CHESHIRE — Authorities said Wednesday there is no threat to the public after a woman was found dead Tuesday off the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
Local and state police are investigating the incident as an “untimely death.” The woman has not yet been identified.
Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland said police are waiting on a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Sutherland added that police were not “looking for any other involved parties” as of Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to School House Road and West Johnson Avenue around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report about suspicious items, according to Lt. Michael Durkee.
The woman was found about 70 feet off the trail, and local detectives requested the assistance of the State Police Major Crimes Division.
A section of the trail was closed while authorities investigated on scene.
