Cheshire man pleads not guilty to aggravated sexual assault charge

CHESHIRE — A local man charged with aggravated sexual assault earlier this month has pleaded not guilty.

Mark Lacy, 32, of 176 Wallingford Road. was charged on Feb. 1 with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree threatening, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree unlawful restraint, and third-degree assault. He appeared in New Haven Superior Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On Feb. 1, a woman reported being sexually assaulted by Lacy inside the Wallingford Road home, according to a police report. The woman said Lacy threatened her with a gun and knife. The woman had visible injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, the report said. A young child was in the home at the time.

Lacy is held on $500,000 bond and is due back in court on March 6.
