TUESDAY SCHOLASTICS: Lyman Hall swimmers continue to ride the tide; Cheshire field hockey blanks Sheehan; Platt & Wilcox volleyball snap losing skids



WALLINGFORD — The Lyman Hall girls swimming team made it a perfect 4-for-4 in SCC Division II competition Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojans edged out Hamden 95-91 at the Sheehan pool to push their overall record to 4-4 and D-II conference mark to 4-0.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Elena Bielesz, Kristina Driscoll, Madison Nemec and Maeve Montante sealed the win with a first-place time of 4:02.53 in the final race of the day.

Caroline Krawec collected two wins for the Trojans. The freshman took the 200 IM (2:14.19) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.97).

Alyssa Cervero won diving (195.05) for LH. Faith Gambardella captured the 500 freestyle (5:36.89).

Also for the Trojans, Driscoll, Krawec, Gambardella and Sarah Beverage touched first in the 200 medley relay (1:59.90).

Field hockey

Conard 2, Southington 0: Liz LaMarco and Libby Geisler scored for the Chieftains in a CCC crossover contest in Southington.

Kate Pryzbyliski stopped seven shots for Southington (3-4).

Emily McDill made seven saves in the shtout for Conard (6-2).

Cheshire 5, Sheehan 0: Meaghan Hogan and Annie Eddy scored two goals apiece for the Rams in their SCC contest against the host Titans at Riccitelli Field.

The Rams, now 9-0, led 1-0 at the half on an unassisted goal by Eddy.

Hogan bookended the second half with her two scores. In between, Mikayla Crowley scored a goal and assisted on Eddy’s second strike of the game.

Megan Daly also had an assist for Cheshire. Goalie Lexie Hemstock made two saves in the team’s eighth shutout of the season.

Sheehan’s Jailyn Sandoval stoned seven shots at the other end. The Titans are 3-8.

Girls volleyball

Sacred Heart Academy 3, Lyman Hall 2: Hailey Bruneau and Ellery Campbell each had nine kills for the Trojans in a SCC crossover contest that went the distance in Wallingford.

Bruneau also had 15 digs and Campbell came through with nine digs.

Nicole Albert also filled the stat sheet for LH (6-7) with five aces, 28 assists and 13 digs.

Game scores were 20-25, 25-13, 25-20, 22-25 and 15-11. The Sharks are 6-8.

Platt 3, Plainville 0: The Panthers snapped a four-game skid with the CCC South crossover victory in Plainville.

Kallan Doyon and Aaliyah Burnley had six kills apiece to lead Platt (4-6).

Angel-Lee Hart dished out 10 assists and Caitlyn Hart collected eight digs.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-21 and 25-18.

Wilcox Tech 3, O’Brien Tech 1: Chloe LaBissoniere piled up 13 kills, six aces and a block as the Indians broke out of a three-game funk and improved to 10-4.

Game scores in Ansonia were 25-22, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-17.

Other standouts for the Tribe were Madison Rios (9 assists, 5 aces) and Victoria Logodicio (10 assists, 4 aces).

The Condors fell to 3-11.
