TUESDAY BASKETBALL: Lady Titans get Busillo win No. 150; LH girls whip Westies; Juodaitis closes to within 16 of 1,000; Tribe’s Ransom adds 36 to the collection



WALLINGFORD — One game after celebrating career point No. 1,000 for senior Liv Robles, the Sheehan girls basketball team celebrated career win No. 150 for head coach Mike Busillo.

The Titans got Busillo to the milestone Tuesday night with a 72-59 SCC Hammonasset victory over Jonathan Law that left both squads at 9-3 overall.

Sheehan, now 2-1 in the division, got 23 points from Robles. Caitylin Hunt extended her standout sophomore season with 11 points.

Mackenzie Hemstock added nine.

Lyman Hall 58, West Haven 41: The Trojans led wire to wire and got 12 different girls in the scoring column in posting the SCC Oronoque victory over the Blue Devils in Wallingford.

Theresa Lynch racked up a double-double for the home team, grabbing 13 rebounds to go along with 11 points.

Brianna Mik spearheaded the defense with five steals. Kailey Lipka, building on her 1,000-point career, led the offense with 19 points.

Lyman Hall improved to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the Oronoque.

Hillhouse 53, Cheshire 45: The Academics pulled away with a late 10-0 run in a SCC Housatonic game in Cheshire.

Trailing 27-20 at the break, Hillhouse erased the deficit and took a one-point lead by winning the third quarter 17-9.

Tanayja London scored 18 points and Tyree Allen had 16 as the Academics improved to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the Housy.

Cheshire, which fell to 6-7 and 1-3, got 19 points from Mia Juodaitis. The senior is 16 points away from 1,000 for her career.

Berlin 59, Southington 41: Four Redcoats scored in double figures as Berlin won the CCC interdivisional border war in Southington.

Ashley Wenzel led the way as Berlin improved to 11-3. Lyzi Litwenko added 14 points and Carly Grega was good for 13. Angela Perrilli added 11.

Southington, now 3-9, got a team-high 13 points from Kelley Marshall.

Hall 52, Platt 39: The Panthers were undone in the first quarter in this CCC interdivisional game in West Hartford, where the Warriors jumped out to a 20-9 lead.

The two teams played evenly after that, but the Panthers still fell to 3-10 overall.

Jalexia West led Platt with 11 points. Jayleena Gordils added nine, Julia Misner scored eight and Aaliyah Brunley kicked in seven.

Hall (8-6) was paced by Olivia Deslauriers (17 points) and Olivia Bonee (14).

Wolcott Tech 32, Wilcox Tech 15: The Indians fell to 3-8 with the CTC loss in Meriden. Kayla Ransom led the Tribe with nine points.

Wolcott Tech improved to 7-4.

Boys basketball

Wilcox Tech 83, Wolcott Tech 51: Area scoring leader Dejuan Ransom had another big night,r olling up 36 points to lead the Indians to the CTC victory in Torrington.

John Soto scored 24 and Isaiah Thomas added nine to help Wilcox improve to 7-3 heading into Wednesday’s non-conference tilt at North Haven.

Cheshire 48, Foran 35: Aidan Godrey’s 19 points powered the Rams to the SCC Hammonasset victory over the Lions in Milford.

Alec Frione added nine points as the Rams upped their marks to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the Hammonasset. Foran fell to 4-9 and 0-4.

Amity 74, Lyman Hall 36: It was all Spartans in this SCC Housatonic matchup in Woodbridge. Amity improved to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the division.

Shakespeare Rodriguez scored 14 points for LH (2-9, 0-3).
