MONDAY BASKETBALL: Cheshire girls punch postseason ticket; Wadolowski moves up the charts



MILFORD — The Cheshire girls basketball team delivered in a must-win situation Monday, defeating Lauralton Hall 31-22 on the final night of the regular season to secure a postseason berth.

Kaylee Clark scored a career-high 10 points and Mia Juodaitis added eight as the Rams improved to 8-12 overall with the SCC interdivisional win.

Cheshire now advances to the SCC conference and CIAC Class LL state tournaments.

Southington 71, Northwest Catholic 36: The Lady Knights wrapped up their regular season at 15-5 with the CCC West-Colonial Division romp in Southington.

Janette Wadolowski scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to post yet another double-double. Alli Carr added 12 points.

Wadolowski, with her 25, leap-frogged three former Southington stars — Jen Gombotz (1,135), Kelly Hart (1,132) and Maggie Meehan (1,118) — to move into third place all-time on the Lady Knights’ scoring list. With 1,140 points and counting, Wadolowski trails only Val DePaolo (1,333) and Ashley Borofsky (1,203). 

Southington heads into the postseason riding a five-game winning streak.

Southington 68, Hall 51: The Blue Knights earned their third straight win with the CCC West-Colonial Division decision in West Hartford.

Southington now stands at 12-6. Hall tumbled to 2-16.
