Police: Wallingford woman charged with DUI tested over two times legal limit

WALLINGFORD — A local woman faces DUI charges after a two-car crash Wednesday night.

Evelyn Grey, 46, of 65 Cliffside Drive, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to obey a stop sign.

Police responded to the two-car collision on Christian Street near North Main Street at about 8 p.m. Evidence at the scene indicated that Grey, the driver of one of the vehicles, did not stop at a stop sign and struck the rear side door of the other vehicle, according to a police report. There were no injuries reported.

Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Grey’s breath and she told police she had been drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the accident, the report said. After performing field tests she was taken into custody. Grey gave a breath test at the police station that showed a blood alcohol content of over two times the legal limit, which is .08, the said.

Grey was released on $2,500 bond and she is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 27.
