WALLINGFORD — A local man faces DUI charges after police said he struck three cars Wednesday night.
Michael Ardito, 35, of 3 Circle Drive, was charged with driving under the influence, operating under suspension, operating without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to drive in proper lane.
Police responded to Circle Drive about 8:50 p.m. for a report of a car striking three other vehicles. Ardito told police he driving a a GMC Sierra around the neighborhood when his front passenger tire snapped, causing him to hit three vehicles and a fence, according to a police report.
Police noticed the vehicle was not registered or insured, administered field sobriety tests and took Ardito into custody. A breathalyzer test reported a blood alcohol level of about .21 and .20, the report said. The legal limit is .08.
Ardito was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday and released on a promise to appear. According to the bail commissioner, he has a previous conviction for driving under the influence in 2004.
