DURHAM — Artie’s Bar & Grill announced earlier this week that the business will close for good on Sunday.
“Thank you Durham for the time I have spent in Artie’s … Through the highs and the lows I have met a lot of good people there. Sad to say we have come to the end of our run,” said the Facebook post, signed by owners Bill and Ellie Anderson.
The post assured patrons that tonight’s live music at Artie’s is still on.
“Still got some partying to do,” they said.
The owners could not be reached for further comment.
The restaurant, at 980 New Haven Road, opened in September 2014.
First Selectman Laura Francis said the closing is a big loss to the community.
“I think Bill really did a great job, he turned it around and he was so generous to our community,” Francis said. “I wish him the best...”
Artie’s hosted fundraisers, provided low cost food for senior programs and supported many organizations.
