Victim of Connecticut dog attack: Don't blame dogs

PLYMOUTH, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut woman recovering in the hospital after being attacked by four of her own large French mastiffs says she doesn’t blame the dogs.

Patricia Collins told the Republican American in a phone interview Wednesday from her room at Yale New Haven Hospital she doesn’t know what triggered the attack but reiterated that it wasn’t the dogs’ fault. She’s scheduled for surgery Thursday to treat injuries to her arm and abdomen.

The 45-year-old Plymouth woman was attacked by four of her six French mastiffs on Monday afternoon.

Officers responding to a 911 call found her on the rear patio of a neighbor’s house. Police shot and killed three of the dogs. The fourth was injured and taken to a veterinary hospital, but was eventually euthanized.

The attack remains under investigation.
