This weekend features opportunities to give back through paint nights in Wallingford and Cheshire, to celebrate heritage with the Meriden Turner Society, and experience comedy in Southington, among other things.

MERIDEN

Meriden Turner Society 152nd Anniversary Dinner

When: 5-11 p.m., Saturday

Where: Meriden Turner Society, 800 Old Colony Rd.

Description: The Meriden Turner Society will celebrate 152 of club heritage, featuring the club’s chorus, the Alpenland Tanswer Schuhplattlers, sword dancers, and the Same Vinci Quartet. Cocktails will be served starting a 5 p.m., and prime rib dinner at 6 p.m. Families are encourage to attend, $40 per person. Reservations can be made by emailing reservations@meridenturnersociety.com or calling (260) 341-2542.

Family Paint Night for Relay for Life

When: 10-12 p.m., Sunday

Where: Wepa Art Studio, 39 W. Main St.

Description: This family paint night is hosted by 7-year-old London, who recently learned about Relay for Life, which “sparked his charitable side.” Tickets are $30 for an adult and child pairing, with two canvases. Thirty-five percent of the proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.

Valentine’s Ballroom Brunch

When: 12-4 p.m., Sunday

Where: Silver City Ballroom, 16 Colony St.

Description: This event features a two-hour all you can eat brunch with an omelet station, waffle bar, pasta, and more. The $20 admission includes one complimentary mimosa or bloody mary. The entire family is welcome to come. You can also come just to dance, for $10 per person.

WALLINGFORD

CT Craft Beer Fest

When: 3-8 p.m., Saturday

Where: Oakdale Theater, 95 S. Turnpike Rd.

Description: This inaugural fest will celebrate craft beer by sampling a variety of CT breweries. All guests will receive a commemorative tasting glass. General admission is $30 and designated drivers get in for $15. Live music performed by Cleo Blue. All proceeds generated from the festival go to the CT Brewers Guild, an organization by brewers and for brewers, to help further the goals of the Craft Beer movement in CT.

Mario Kart Tournament

When: 12-5 p.m., Sunday

Where: Front Porch Brewing, 336 North Plains Industrial Rd., Unit 4

Description: This event is 21+ only. Players of all skills are welcome to participate for casual play and a fun experience. The entry fee to play is $10, which includes a draft pour of choice. There will be prizes for the top four winners. Sign-ups will start at noon when the brewery opens and will be done on a first come, first served basis.

SOUTHINGTON

Comedy Night at the American Legion

When: 7-8:30 p.m., Saturday

Where: American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, 64 Main St. 

Description: The show will feature Rich Carucci, Joe Currie, and MC Jackie Byrne. General admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased on the Kiltonic Post 72 website.

CHESHIRE

Valentine’s Day Benefit Paint Day

When: 4-7 p.m., Saturday

Where: 2 Town Center Plaza (off Academy Road)

Description: Hosted by the Voice of Art, the fundraiser will benefit victims of domestic abuse from the local communities. Tickets are $195 per couple. To register, email thevoiceofartorg@gmail.com

Meet “Our Windows” Photographer

When: 1:30-3 p.m., Sunday

Where: Cheshire Public Library, 104 Main St.

Description: Connecticut photographer Robert C. Marsala will join the library to talk about what attracts him to abandoned buildings and objects. His work is part of Ball & Socket's collection "Capturing the Before", an archival project created to record artists' impressions of the buildings before restoration, and "Our Windows", Ball & Socket's first art book. This is a free event.
