The Peter’s Rock Association’s annual Fall Festival will offer free activities, food and a guided hike this Sunday.

The festival, which the association has held for about a decade, will take place at Peter’s Rock Park on Sunday, Oct. 14, from noon to 3 p.m., with a rain date scheduled for Oct. 21.

Among the free hot dogs, chips and cookies, there will be a pumpkin patch and craft areas for kids.

“Children (can) go out and pick a pumpkin and get to decorate it,” said Peter’s Rock Association treasurer, Michael Fletcher. “We have everything that’s needed to decorate the pumpkins ...”

Fletcher said there will also be face painting and coloring opportunities for youngsters, as well as local experts set up to talk about subjects such as bee-keeping.

This year will feature a Story Walk about a pumpkin seed, sponsored by the North Haven Memorial Library and Daytime Gardeners, in conjunction with the Peter’s Rock Association.

The highlight, Fletcher said, would be the 1 p.m. guided hike up to Peter’s Rock summit, using the park’s red trail, which is about a mile long. “It's the highest point in North Haven,” he said. “The views are just tremendous.”
