NORTH HAVEN — Six months ago, Tina Nazario worked as a receptionist at a salon in Wallingford.
After receiving training for electrology at a school in Massachusetts, she decided to open her own salon.
“That’s when I decided to have electrology and a hair salon together,” she said.
T&CO, which stands for Tina and Company, at 540 Washington Ave. (Route 5), provides color treatments, makeup application, lash extension and electrology, a specialized hair removal treatment.
“(The clients) like having all of the services in one place,” said Nazario, a North Haven resident.
Nazario said she acquired the storefront in the Kimberly Plaza at the beginning of the year and completed renovations in a month. Outfitted with wood paneled walls, a custom built reception desk and a coffee and tea bar, Nazario said it is important to make clients feel relaxed.
Stylists Marissa Biondino and Danielle Perrelli worked with Nazario in the previous salon.
Biondino said the new salon focuses on “wellness” and offers a range of treatments and product lines that have no additives or artificial ingredients. The products available for sale are gluten free, paraben free, ammonia free and vegan.
“Just cleaner products, healthier for your hair and body,” said Biondino, a Wallingford resident. “It just feels right if you have something cleaner.”
Nazario said she hopes to add to the list of treatments that the salon offers based on the feedback from clients. She also would like to plan events, such as cut-a-thons, that would involve and engage the community.
“We just want it to be fun and upbeat,” Nazario said.
