Meriden man charged in gun incident



MERIDEN — A local man faces charges after police said he reportedly tried to shoot another man in November. 

Earl Williams, 30, of 1047 Old Colony Road, was charged Wednesday with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, weapons in a motor vehicle, and reckless endangerment. 

On Nov. 2, a man reported that the day before Williams pointed a handgun at his leg on Hillside Avenue, according to a police report. The man said that when Williams pulled the trigger the gun jammed and Williams got back in his car and drove off.

In an interview with police, Williams denied any involvement.

Williams was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Feb 20. Bond was set at $25,000 and he is due back in court on March 4.
