Meriden-Wallingford campership fund reaches $42,450 in ninth week



The Summer Campership Fund for Meriden-Wallingford finished the ninth week at $42,450 with new donations totaling $12,615, including gifts from Cuno Foundation, $10,000; Jack and Barbara Brooks, $140; Sally Shernow, $75; Wadsworth Family Foundation, $2,000; Diane and Hugh Kearney, $350; Alpha Delta Kappa Psi Chapter, $50.

This year’s goal is $65,000 in order to fund 500 two-week camperships. One hundred percent of the funds raised are used directly to fund camperships. Applications for campership awards have been distributed in Meriden and Wallingford schools. Applications and proof of family income must be brought to the camp office of choice. Families applying must submit a DSS budget sheet or a completed 2018 income tax form. For more information, contact Meriden Health and Human Services at www.meridenhealth.com . Camperships will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

The program is sponsored by the Record-Journal, the United Way and Ion Bank and administered by Meriden Health and Human Services.
