WALLINGFORD — The community will have the opportunity to sample food from over a dozen different restaurants downtown next week as part of the 7th annual Restaurant Hop.
“There’s something for everyone,” said Liz Landow, Wallingford Center Inc. executive director. “It’s been progressively getting larger every year.”
The Downtown Restaurant Hop kicks off Wednesday, May 8, at 4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at HUBCAP of Wallingford on Center Street. The event is sponsored by Wallingford Center Inc.
Participants can stop at various downtown restaurants, including Center Street Luncheonette and Los Mariachi’s on North Colony Street.
Mr. D’s on North Main Street and Alyssa’s Cakery on Center Street will have special sweet treats for people to try.
“People love it,” said Alyssa Nieves, owner of Alyssa’s Cakery. “We do different things every year, one year we did cupcakes and one year we did cake pops.”
She is still deciding on this year’s menu and is looking forward to seeing returning customers, as well as new faces.
“We’re excited,” she said.
Other places expected to participate include; Cafe Ra, Cliffside Brewing, Gaetano’s Tavern on Main, Knuckleheads, The Library Wine & Bistro, and The Eatery, among others.
The restaurants will be offering a two to three ounce portion of different items from their menus.
Landow said people often discover items they never tried before and end up returning to restaurants after the hop.
Proceeds from the hop benefit other events in town like the holiday stroll and Celebrate Wallingford.
