The 4th annual ‘Meriden Memorial Mile’ is on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m. The one mile walk or run event is on a professionally certified course, starting at Meriden’s Israel Putnam Elementary School with a finish along the Veteran monuments on Broad Street, across from Stop and Shop.
The goal of the Mile is to raise awareness on the needs of local vets and to build community by bringing people together for a good cause. Proceeds from race registration fees and sponsorships will benefit Meriden veterans families who have children in our local elementary schools.
At the end of the Mile, participants will gather to receive awards and celebrate the day. Participants will also have a chance to win a $250 gift card from Meriden’s Westfield Mall, and one of 10 ‘American Pies’ donated by Lyman Orcards.
At the conclusion of the awards, the Meriden Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m., allowing Mile participants front row seats to enjoy the parade.
All are welcome to join the parade. For more information on the parade, contact Bob Williams at (203) 630-3451 or Ron Perry at (203) 235-5635.
