CHESHIRE — A Wolcott man has been charged in a domestic disturbance.

Michael Kupka, 30, of 108 Deer Run Drive, was charged Wednesday with unlawful restraint, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace.

Police responded to the area of Highland Avenue and Interstate 691 east around 4:20 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a police report. Officers found a woman sitting on the side of the road who said she was riding in Kupka’s car when they got into an argument.

The woman said Kupka locked the car doors and refused to let her leave. When Kupka stopped at a red light at Highland Avenue, the woman kicked out the passenger window and jumped out of the car, the report stated.

The woman was not injured during the incident. Officers investigated and later took Kupka into custody with the assistance from the Wolcott Police Department.

Kupka was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday and the judge set bond at $5,000. The case was continued to March 19.
