BERLIN — Police on Friday identified the woman killed in a hit and run Wednesday night.

Janine Wiktor, 58, of New Britain was struck and killed in the area of 319 New Britain Road around 10:40 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Chris Ciuci said.

The vehicle involved was not at the scene when police arrived, Ciuci said. Investigators are working to identify the driver and vehicle, which will likely have damage to the bumper, hood and possibly windshield, he said.

Police are looking for help from anyone who may have been traveling in the area at the time of the incident or has access to a video camera that may have captured the crash, he said.

The MidState Accident Reconstruction Squad is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Tom Bobok at 860-828-7088 or by email at tbobok@berlinpd.org.
