Socket to you talent show fundraiser
CHESHIRE — Are you a magician, an acrobat, or working on your stand-up comedy? Do you sing, dance, or play an instrument? Come and audition for the Socket to You Talent Show. Youth Division: 5-13 years old (up to 8 th grade). Adult Division: 14 years old and up (9 th grade and over) Auditions to take place on Wednesday, April 18, and Sunday, April 22, at Artsplace, 1220 Waterbury Road, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. or call Kim at 203-250- 8313 to make an alternate arrangement to audition. The Talent Show will take place at Thorp Auditorium, Cheshire High School, 525 South Main St., on Saturday, June 23. There is a non-refundable registration fee per act required at time of audition.
The Cheshire Wallingford League of Women Voters will choose three women applicants for scholarships that are designed to assist them to go back to an educational program they may have started years ago or to train for a new career. Each scholarship was established in memory of a League member who had returned to the working world after some kind of retraining. The scholarships are specifically for residents of Cheshire, Wallingford and Prospect and named for Elizabeth Giardino, of Cheshire, Madeline Erskine, of Wallingford and Joyce Kathan, of Prospect.
Applications will be available in each of the town’s public libraries or may be requested on line at ScholarLWV@yahoo.com. Completed applications, which will require a letter of recommendation and evidence of enrollment in a program of study, will need to be submitted by May 15.
Cheshire Public Library, 104 Main St., hosts Adult Loft Knitters, for advanced/intermediate knitters, monthly on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. Come to socialize, learn, and share your techniques with other knitters. Supplies will be provided but feel free to donate or bring your own and don’t forget to ask your friends to join.
