For more than 40 years, the Meriden Hub sat on the site of the now-Meriden Green. In 2005, the city took possession of the property with the intent to implement a flood control solution after floods caused millions of dollars in damage in the 1990s.
In November 2013, LaRosa Construction Co. broke ground on the 14.4 acre flood control basin in November 2013 after decades of discussion and planning. The $14 million project, which included creating an exposed channel for the brook, was completed in June 2016.
Since its opening in September 2016, it has hosted a variety of events and has also served as a park for city residents.
